Can I just say that I resent the thread in Ragnarok that suggests that part of the estrangement with Thor, and the issues with Loki and his family, are somehow linked to him not being present/there (i.e. not really there with his illusions, etc)? Like Loki is a neglectful family member who has never been emotionally present.

I like it and I’ll reblog it.

My issue with the portrayal of the Odinson family is not that they are dysfunctional. All families have some degree of dysfunction. In fiction, that makes them interesting. My issue is with the fact that the only one who seems to be held accountable for that dysfunction is Loki. Especially when…

ODIN: Lied to Loki about his origins, probably took Loki for purely political reasons -even if he developed an affinity for him over time, allowed Loki to think he was born to be a king when there was no way in hell he was going to inherit the throne of Asgard, favored Thor and cast Loki aside to the point where Loki developed a complex as a result (because a person doesn’t just magically become bitter out of thin air -it’s a response to something). Also, he didn’t come in person to tell Loki that his mother had died.

FRIGGA: Also lied to Loki about his origins, didn’t stand up to Odin in regards to his treatment of Loki or favoritism of Thor. Went along with Odin sentencing Loki to life in prison.

THOR: Bullied Loki fairly consistently -even if it was purely a result of the culture he was raised in and his father’s shitty parenting, didn’t visit Loki in prison until he needed something from him, and not even going to get into the electrocution torture scene in Ragnarok.

The problem is that all of these characters were allowed redemption or hero status, despite the seriousness of their actions. But Loki is not “allowed” to be redeemed for anything he has done. Odin is forgiven because he cried a tear (of I’m assuming pride?) when Thor had a change of heart about destroying the Frost Giants. Odin is forgiven because he told his sons he loved them before dying mysteriously, without resolving anything. Frigga is forgiven because she was murdered by a Dark Elf. Thor is forgiven because he’s the title character and could probably set Loki on fire and shove him off a cliff and people would make memes about what a great big brother he is for doing that.

Loki has done shitty things. No doubt. But it seems like any good things he does somehow don’t “count” because of those things. And I find this utterly confusing. I despise the message this sends people. That if you are strange, or you don’t fit in…any terrible things you do will define you forever.

Damn, this is good.

Yep.

We keep forgetting that the actors themselves haven’t confirmed yet. And also it’s very likely going to be a prequel before Thor 2011.

I secretly hope there are some scene that debunked the “respectful direspect” Taika Watiti Ragnarok version of childhood Thor and Loki, mainly for the reason that Ragnarok version went against what Branagh and Feige established in the first movie (especially the stabbing story that make Loki looks like a simple character that doing a mishievous things since he was a child because he is just “mishiveous).

For example, they can make the reason why Loki turned into a snake  and stabbing Thor when they were “eight” is because he want to prove himself against Thor who ridiculed his magic.

Honestly, I love Loki and Tom Hiddleston to death, but if Marvel lets Taika Waititi and his new “canon” anywhere near this series, I’m out af.

MCU Loki is one of the most beautiful, deep, tragic, meaningful, full-of-potential character in the whole cinema history. Really…they could do anything with him. His own movie(s) could be an epic event. Something to remember.

Yet they’ve chosen to belittle him, little by little, stripped of his dignity and power, until cut him down. Completely ignored. Killed like a poor extras who doesn’t have any matter. With an unjustified violence and brutality.

It’s like to have a huge, solid golden nugget, shining and precious,…and use it as doorstop covered with dust…

Seriously, Marvel…

What’s your problem?

  • What is you favorite and least favorite Loki scene?

My all time favorite scene will always be the part where his life snaps.

From Tom’s raw emotion to Loki finally realizing his worst fear has come to pass, this scene always makes me cry….and I’m not a movie crier. I can never quite put my feelings for this scene into words. It’s captivating and honest and unsettling. From Odin’s calm demeanor to Loki’s hysteria, it’s cinematic gold.

Now,

There isn’t really one scene that comes to mind as my least favorite because Loki is so complex. Tom always does such a marvelous job delivering a perfect preformance, whether with words or expressions.

Buuuuut

There was one shot with one little sentence that has bothered me.

Not only was he portrayed as cowardly, but also stupid. Obviously they needed a plot device to get the characters to Sakaar, but it doesn’t excuse the poor writing. Loki never flees in a way the reveals his true fear. He is known for controlling his surface even if he is falling apart underneath. Also, Loki is a genius! Why in Chuck’s name would he have summoned the Bifrost when he knows Hela is within range??

Anywho, thanks for the ask! These are fun! Please do send more. 🤓💚

For @cuddlememerrick

My least favourite Loki scene is Thor: Ragnarok.

Yes, the whole thing.

You have killed my love. You used to stir my imagination. Now you don’t even stir my curiosity. You simply produce no effect. I loved you because you were marvelous, because you had genius and intellect, because you realized the dreams of great poets and gave shape and substance to the shadows of art. You have thrown it all away. You are shallow and stupid.
