OK i hate the “sad chantry boys trio” thing for a lot of reasons but chief among them is that Alistair takes every opportunity to distance himself from the chantry. Like, he’s very cynical about their mercy, he hated being at the chantry and being a templar, and I know there’s like the “not all templars” joke but his comment to a mage warden reads less like that and more like “I didn’t like it, didn’t want to be there, I’m not like other templars bc I’m *not* a templar.” And like when the templars lady is all AN APOSTATE I WILL SEE YOU HANGED he basically goes “guess my hands are tied huh……..not like anyone here could just INVOKE THE RIGHT OF CONSCRIPTION and SAVE THIS POOR MAN that’s preposterous I would totally not condone a certain warden just INVOKING THE RIGHT OF CONSCRIPTION RIGHT NOW which you can do by saying THESE WORDS RIGHT NOW…” like. Alistair is a bit religious and he does harbor some uh. Less than fantastic views that are indicative of his time in the chantry but. He is not a sad chantry boy bc he himself does not identify with the chantry in any way.
Anyways alistair unsubtly trying to hint to you to save Anders is the funniest thing I love him
This is the most perfect description of Alistair trying to save-but-not-save Anders.
