My annoyance at Hela (but I donāt blame the character)
Ever since Ragnarok came out and introduced Hela as Odinās āREALā firstborn child, Iāve noticed that people try to make everything that was first completely original about Loki, now all about her. Like, everything from his appearance, his looks, the colors he wears, people try to make out like none of it is originally him anymore, but her. Like heās been unknowingly wearing her hand-me-downs all his life, or something. Does anybody understand what Iām trying to say, and is also irritated and annoyed by it?
Why did they have to make her Thorās sister, and give Odin this secret, other child? In my opinion she shouldnāt have been in their family like that. Adding a 3rd party to Thor, Loki and Odinās dysfunction made it all seem for nothing. Like they never intended to have any if it resolved. Thor and Loki donāt so much āput asideā their issues as they just get kind of cancelled out, especially Lokiās. Having Odin put an āsā at the end of the word āsonā was supposed to act as a fix-all for Loki, as well as sweep his issues under the rug in one move.
I wish they hadnāt connected her to Odin and Thor that way, and I wish they had given her more originality that was her own, and not taken from Loki so much. They made her look so much like him I thought she was going to be his mother, and I think that wouldāve made more sense. I think she couldāve been so much more in the hands of people who really cared.
I agree. Retconning a secret sister into the family dynamic gave the narrative a weird, soap opera like turn that wasnāt needed. Hela didnāt have to be related to Odin at all in order to explore the themes TR was supposedly trying to explore. She could have been is loyal paladin until he turned on her or any numberĀ of things. And I agree, they basically copied everything about Loki and gave it to Hela and now the fandom acts like his original appearance personality and skills (and even colors) were somehow OOC or not Lokiās own doing. Itās like the retcon further erodes his agency in the eyes of fans and all his issues are ignored in favor of Hela. Hell, why not have Helaās colors be red and black (for blood and her relation to Odin and Thor if she has to be related to them). Otherwise there are way too many obvious similarities between her and Loki that weāre asked to ignore. I donāt blame Hela for this, itās lazy writing and the MCUās reliance on telling the same handful of stories over and over with the serial numbers Sharpieād out.Ā
Itās not a new idea: I read about it years ago. A lot of people seem to have a gut reaction to it but it might actually work. If itās practically feasible, that is.
So, instead of actually addressing the causes of climate change, weāre talking about tinkering with the thing that gives like to everything on the planet by basically smearing the atmosphere with sunblock?

Iām upset because I want to change the world but the world is too big and people are too mean
